The Pakistan Army on Thursday rejected what it called an “unconfirmed statement” by a senior Indian Army officer about the presence of launch pads and terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Commanding General, Northern Command, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said that around 160 terrorists are waiting at launch pads in PoK for a chance to sneak into India.

Responding to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent statement on retaking PoK, Lt Gen Dwivedi said there was a parliamentary resolution on the subject, so it was nothing new. “As far as the Indian Army is concerned, it will do whatever the Indian government gives us. We are always ready for it,” he said.

A high-ranking Indian general’s “uncertain statement” about PoK is a “perfect reflection” of the Indian army’s “fantasy” and is a clear sign of domestic political overreach. Indian military think tank, Inter-Services Relations (ISPR) – the media wing of the army – said in a series of tweets.

“The fanciful comments and baseless accusations of the so-called ‘launch-pads’ and ‘terrorists’ are an attempt to change perceptions,” he said.

He said the Pakistan army has the strength and preparedness to prevent “any injustice or aggression against our territory”.
