In a press release made available to newsmen by the Director of Media and Publicity of Oru Peoples’ Day 2022 Planning Committee, Comrade Akeem Temitope Akilo, ‘the stage play is part of the week-long programme of activities lined up to mark the 38th edition of the Annual Oru Peoples’ Day which comes up between Monday, 26th December 2022 and Saturday, 31st December 2022 for the grand finale.
The stage play, Isokan is written by Nollywood veteran actor, Dele Odule who also doubles with actor Yomi Duro Ladipo as the directors of the play, while Prof. Bakare Ojo Rasaki is the supervising director.
Isokan is the deftly told story of a King of a community who was wrongfully convicted of theft by his subjects and was punished publicly. The King invoked emotional curses on the community. The invocation of the curse by the King caused harm and misfortune to the entire community for decades.
According to the producer, Dele Odule, the generational curse must be reverse, the land must be healed from the curse and, in so doing, open the door for physical healing, progress, development of the community and peaceful enthronement of a new King. And, the community must remain free of the curse once that bondage has been broken.
