Nepal plane crash LIVE updates: search and rescue operation begins in Pokhara
The Nepal Army on Monday confirmed that none of the passengers were allowed to survive in the massive plane crash that took place on Sunday. So far, at least 68 have been confirmed dead out of the 72 passengers on board the plane.
In what is believed to be the Himalayan nation’s deadliest plane crash in three years, at least one witness reported hearing cries for help from the fiery wreckage. The ATR 72 twin-engine plane of Yeti Airlines was flying from the capital Kathmandu to Pokhara, a tourist city when it crashed while trying to land at a new airport.
Footage of the crash showed the plane losing control in mid-air moments before crashing nose-first to its left into a gorge.
Four of the five Indian nationals on board hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district while one was said to be a resident of Bihar’s Sitamarhi district.
