The newly elected member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Adeleye Lukman Olalekan has urged government and drivers of the private sector to do more in the area of worker’s welfare.
This advice was contained in a statement
personally signed by the member elected to represent the good people of Odogbolu State Constituency, to mark this year’s workers’ day.
Hon Adeleye who commended Nigerian workers at various levels said, “it is worthy to celebrate the workers as the labour force which has sustained and developed our fatherland”.
“I can not but implore government at all tiers to continue to recognise the value of labour, the dignity of works and uphold social and economic justice. The struggle for better working conditions, fair wages and worker protection are irreduceable minimum expected from every serious government and the society at large”.
In his words, “I celebrate the achievements of workers in Odogbolu State Constituency and Ogun state in general. I further implore the workers to renew their commitment to creating a more just and equitable society for all”.
While appreciating the efforts of private companies within the constituency in the area of job creation, ‘Senator’ as he is fondly called pleaded with owners of such private enterprise to improve the working conditions of their workers especially those tagged “casual labour”.
He prayed that the spirit of solidarity that the labour movement stands for continues to dwell in the workers.
