‘Smooth…’: Drug case against Prince Harry. All you need to know | World news
Prince Harry’s entry and exit records from the US are private and publishing them through a case about his drug use would be “clearly unbelievable,” officials said in a filing. The Duke of Sussex talked about taking drugs, including cocaine, cannabis, magic mushrooms and ayahuasca, in his memoir ‘Spare’ which was published in January 2023. The Heritage Foundation argued that Prince Harry should have disclosed his experiences in the application your US visa.
The organization wants the US Department of Homeland Security to publish the application to allow scrutiny on whether Prince Harry lied or was granted easy access to the visa. DHS accused the foundation of writing “six pages of inflammatory allegations” targeting US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) while the former said DHS’s criticisms of its own behavior were “outrageous”.
A letter from CBP to Heritage read, “We find that it does not serve the public interest to override the Duke of Sussex’s right to privacy regarding his entry and exit records.”
“Without individual consent or an overriding public interest, providing Duke access and exit records would be an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy,” Newsweek reported the letter as reading.
“‘Mere suspicion’ of corporate misconduct is not enough. A FOIA requester must produce evidence that would support a belief by a reasonable person that Government misconduct may have occurred. An allegation of ‘public interest’ that is no more than public curiosity on the subject of the requested records is not legally sufficient,” he added.
[DHS] statements of [the foundation’s] status is ‘inflammatory allegations’ is an attempt to remove from the record. Every [the foundation] has done in reforming CBP’s own behavior,” he continued.
