Governor Abiodun’s Game-Changing Strategy: Putting Yewa In The Front-Burner
By: Tayo Mabeweje
In a resounding display of leadership, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has introduced a visionary plan that could reshape the nation’s agricultural landscape. The occasion was the momentous commissioning of the Ibooro-Imasai-Ayetoro road in Yewa North Local Government Area, where Governor Abiodun unveiled a transformative initiative aimed at establishing an expansive 20,000-hectare rice farm in the Yewa axis.
With an unwavering commitment, Governor Abiodun eloquently articulated his vision, identifying Yewaland as the pivotal “food basket” of both the state and the nation. His unwavering proclamation echoed with determination, “We are actively seeking 20,000 hectares of land for rice cultivation. We won’t be investing directly, as we have eager investors ready to contribute. I earnestly call upon our respected Kabiyesis to unite and allocate the land needed for this project within the next two to three weeks.”
Governor Abiodun’s steadfast dedication to fostering an investor-friendly environment for growth is evident. He rallied traditional rulers, including the esteemed Olu of Ilaro, urging them to rally behind this transformative endeavour. “Our goal is to elevate this region of Yewa to the esteemed status of Nigeria’s Rice Capital,” proclaimed Governor Abiodun, emphasizing the potential for significant job creation and a revitalized economy.
Governor Abiodun’s unswerving commitment to attracting external investments to drive this initiative is emblematic of his visionary leadership. He affirmed: “Our financial commitment will be minimal; we’re solely focused on creating an enabling atmosphere for investors to transform this area into Nigeria’s preeminent rice capital.”
This visionary strategy has garnered widespread commendation, with many applauding Governor Abiodun’s unyielding resolve. The initiative not only aims to put Yewa on the global map but also to empower women and youth by generating new employment prospects. Ultimately, the reimagining of the agricultural landscape promises to redefine Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.
It must be put on record that no government in the last years has commissioned roads and other infrastructural projects as the present Administration has done in Yewaland.
