Spinal Cord Injury Association Rallies Support For Oluwole Oside’s Record-Breaking Video Game Challenge

In a monumental display of determination and resilience, Oluwole Oside is once again pushing the boundaries by attempting to break his own Guinness World Record for continuous video gaming. Having set an impressive record of 75 hours previously, Oside is now gearing up for an even greater feat which is 100 hours of uninterrupted gaming, from September 24th to 29th, 2024, at Popcentral in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

There’s more to this event than just smashing records. As a committed advocate, Oside is using his platform to highlight the difficulties faced by survivors of spinal cord injuries, particularly those in Ogun State. Spinal cord injury is a life-altering event that would have affected the survivor physically, emotionally, and financially. His mission is deeply personal, timed perfectly to align with Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month in September. This year’s theme, “End Violence – Protect the Spinal Cord,” highlights the ongoing need for public awareness of spinal cord injuries, many of which can be caused by preventable violent incidents.

As Oside embarks on his 100-hour challenge, he aims to draw attention to the often-overlooked struggles of spinal cord injury survivors, advocating for stronger support systems and better healthcare. His journey resonates with the core values of the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria – Ogun State Chapter, which focuses on advocacy, rehabilitation, and creating a more inclusive society for people living with spinal cord injuries.

Oside’s mission is not only to break a world record but also to raise funds that will directly benefit spinal cord injury survivors in Ogun State. By tying his effort to the theme of violence prevention and spinal cord protection, he underscores the importance of collective action to ensure that violence, one of the leading causes of these injuries, is addressed through awareness and policy reform.

The Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria – Ogun State Chapter proudly stands with Oluwole Oside and invites the public to rally behind him during this historic challenge. Every hour of his gaming marathon serves as a reminder of the strength and determination of spinal cord injury survivors across the country.

Together, let’s support Oluwole Oside as he strives for another Guinness World Record and contributes to a cause that touches countless lives.
