Ijebu East Local Government has never been the personal property of any individual. And, in the current All Progressives Congress (APC) dispensation, it has been proved beyond all reasonable doubts that any attempt to discard the majority by a loquacious minority, who lack political base, will always result in electoral defeat.
A number of us, who are founding members of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), which became Action Congress (AC), later, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and today, APC, have passed through the current contrived persecution before. But at that time, it was by another political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), whose leaders naively believed they’ll be in office till the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. They were mistaken, and shown the way out!
Sadly, the same people, who destroyed the PDP at the time, behaving as dictators are repeating the same mess in APC in Ijebu East Local Government today. But we’ve advised our supporters to be calm. Nobody can replace the Almighty. And, thank God enough, democracy is a game of numbers. We have the numbers, which is why these Politically Expired Persons (PEP) are afraid.
Our leaders in Abeokuta may not like distinguished Senator Adeola Olamilekan (Yayi), thus the subtle and not-so-subtle directives for members to distance themselves from this man who is busy building the Party. But he remains a worthy member of APC. He has not defected from APC. Lastly, the Party is yet to zone the 2027 Governorship ticket to any of the three senatorial districts or four divisions of the state. A Governorship primary is not the business of the Party’s State chapter. It is the business of the National Secretariat to give instructions about Governorship primary, thus a candidate.
We’ll not be intimidated by their antics as we pitch our tent firmly with “YAYI”. These Politically Expired Persons (PEP) and their sponsors will fail. Eke ni oju maa ti!
