Ogun Government Empowers Youths With N5 Million Agric Grant

 Ogun State Government has empowered indigenes of the State who graduated from the Enterprise for Youth in Agriculture (EIYA) programme with a grant of N5million and 2.5 hectares of land for farming towards creating more job opportunities and enhancing food production within the agricultural value chain.

          Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo disclosed this while presenting a cheque of N2.5 million to participants of Cohort Seven, noting that N2.5 million had earlier been issued to Cohort Six, who also participated in EIYA training programme at Soiless Farm Lab, Awowo in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State.

The Commissioner assured the graduates of continuous support from the State Government, saying, “This gesture is a token of appreciation for your dedication to duty and enhancing food productivity in Ogun State and Nigeria”.

Owotomo applauded Soiless Farm Lab for the initiative, targeted at producing 10,000 young entrepreneurs in the sector, adding that EIYA graduates should leverage on the training to build a bright future in agricultural business and contribute to the State’s economic growth.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye congratulated the graduates, expressing her passion for youth engagement in agriculture, noting that the future looks bright for them in the sector.

In their remarks, Consultant to Soilless Farm Lab, Mr. Akin Alabi and Social mobilisation Officer, Mr. Paul Okwara, commended the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s led administration for supporting the programme and encouraging the graduates to utilise their skills in growing the State’s economy.

Responding, representative of cohort Seven, Elizabeth Popoola, appreciated the Governor and his team for the programme, promising to justify the efforts of the State Government by contributing their quota at ensuring food security and brightening the future of agricultural business.

Highlights of the event were presentation of cheque and survey plans of 2.5 hectares of land to representative of Cohort Seven for farming project.
