Group Wants State Recognition For Boat Regatta Festival

In a significant move to promote cultural heritage and tourism in Ogun State, the Afobaje age group of Iwopin recently paid a courtesy visit to the Ogun State House of Assembly, where they met with the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elemide. The visit was aimed at advocating for the inclusion of the Okoshi festival, also known as Boat Regatta, as a state event.

During the meeting, Giwa Egbe- Chief Kehinde Sanni expressed gratitude to the Speaker for his efforts in supporting cultural events in the state and other legislative matters. Giwa Egbe Obirin – Mrs. Mafe also acknowledged the support given to Hon. Adekunle Lawee, the representative of Ogun Waterside State Constituency, which has contributed to his outstanding performance.

The Balogun Egbe- Chief Olamide Gabriel commended the Speaker’s performance in maintaining peace at the House of Assembly and supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun’s dividends of democracy efforts in Ogun State.

Hon. Adekunle Lawee, who represents Ogun Waterside State Constituency, briefed the Afobaje team on upcoming constituency projects that will soon commence in the area. He assured the team of his commitment to their development.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elemide, assured the Afobaje team of the House of Assembly’s readiness to support the inclusion of the Okoshi festival as a state event. He emphasized the importance of promoting cultural heritage and tourism in the state, which aligns with the administration’s efforts to boost economic development.
