
The Chairman of Ijebu Ode local government, Hon Dare Alebiosu has dismissed claims in some quarters that all markets in Ijebu Ode area has been closed for a period of 75 days as a result of the demise of the Paramount ruler and Awujale of Ijebuland, late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
Alebiosu made this known in a statement he personally signed and made available to Ijebu News Xtra magazine on Thursday, July 17, 2024.
Describing the allegations as “false and baseless,” Hon Alebiosu clarified that no such directive has been issued by his office or any related authority.

RE: FALSE RUMOUR ON CLOSURE OF MARKETS FOR 75 DAYS
The attention of the Ijebu Ode Local Government has been drawn to a false and misleading rumour currently circulating regarding the purported closure of all markets in the area for a duration of 75 days.
We wish to categorically state that there is no such directive or decision by the local government or any competent authority. The general public, market leaders, and traders are hereby urged to disregard this baseless information and continue their lawful activities.
Kindly be assured that any market-related directive, if ever necessary, will be officially communicated through verified government channels. We urge residents to refrain from spreading unverified news capable of causing panic or disrupting public order.
