It was a pandemonium as the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) officers caused the sudden death of an unidentified okada-rider and a passenger at Awujale/Itoro roundabout area of Ijebu-Ode local government secretariat on Friday.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in the course of dragging the okada rider who failed to use “head-protector”. He was forcefully stopped by the corps officials, in the process of dragging him, the overloaded truck hit and killed the passenger immediately while the okada rider died at the state hospital.
When asked about the whereabouts of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) officers who were on duty, our correspondent learnt that they left office immediately the incident occurred.
Findings from Ijebu-Ode police command for more information on the incident was not forthcoming as all efforts to get intelligence reports from the DPO on the issue proved abortive as of the time of filing in this report.
Speaking with an eyewitness Mohammed Kazeem who frankly expressed in disgust, that the okada rider refused to stop but the truck was not ready to slow-down until the truck crushed the passenger and okada rider to death.
