Man Arrested For Alleged Murder Of Brother’s 39-Year-Old Pregnant Wife In Kwara

The police in Kwara State have arrested one Sylvester Enemo for the alleged murder of a 39-year-old pregnant woman, identified as Mrs. Esther Enemo, in Ilorin, the state capital.

It was gathered that the suspect, aged 29, dismembered the victim, said to be his elder brother’s wife, after killing her at Temidire community, Egbejila Road, Ilorin, on August 21, 2025.

Residents said the victim, whose husband is a trader in agricultural chemicals and equipment in a border town in the Kwara North district, had been alone at home on Wednesday night.

They said that she was expecting a visitor that evening and was seen purchasing bottles of beer and plates of peppery soup before retreating indoors.

By dawn, suspicion arose when a neighbour reportedly confronted a man, believed to be her husband’s younger brother, leaving the house with a dripping black plastic bag.

The liquid trail, on closer inspection, turned out to be blood, prompting the neighbour to raise the alarm and draw the attention of other members of the community.

Body parts, suspected to belong to the victim—including an arm, a leg, and internal organs—were said to have been later discovered in nearby bushes, while the head was nowhere to be found.

Police sources confirmed that the case was transferred from the Budo Nuhu Divisional Headquarters along Airport Road to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Ilorin for further probe.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said, “The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public of a tragic incident that occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Temidire community, Egbejila Road, Ilorin.

‎”At about 9 am, a resident of the area reported a suspected foul play within the residence of one Mr. Ekene Enemo. Following a swift police response, a team of detectives visited the scene, where the dismembered body of Mrs. Esther Enemo (aged 39) was discovered in the bush behind her residence.

“Further search led to the recovery of other parts of her body concealed in a sack and dumped beneath a nearby community bridge. A suspect, one Mr. Sylvester Enemo (aged 29), younger brother to the victim’s husband, who was seen leaving the house a few minutes before the discovery of the incident, has been arrested in connection with the crime.

“In contrast, the husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo, has also been contacted for necessary clarification. The remains of the deceased have been evacuated and deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) morgue for autopsy.”

‎Ejire-Adeyemi also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, had ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter, assuring that the Command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served.

It appealed to members of the public to remain calm and avoid speculations capable of inciting fear or tension within the community.

The PPRO said the police were fully committed to unravelling the circumstances surrounding this incident and bringing all perpetrators to face the full weight of the law.

He reassured citizens that adequate security strategies had been reinforced across the state to safeguard lives and property.

“We urge residents to continue to cooperate with the police by providing useful information that can aid ongoing investigations and security operations.

“The Kwara State Police Command remains steadfast in its resolve to protect all residents and ensure peace prevails in our communities,” Ejire-Adeyemi stated.
