9 Days To Go: Amosun Installs 75 New Obas In Ogun

Barely nine days to the expiration of his tenure, the Ogun State governor Senator, Ibikunle Amosun has installed new 75 Obas in the state.

The new monarchs who were upgraded from village chiefs were presented with the staff of office on Monday at the Obas’ Complex hall, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Amosun, represented by the secretary to the State government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa maintained that the promotion exercise fulfilled the requirements for upgrading traditional rulers as stipulated in sub section (1) and (2) of section 25 of chiefs laws of Ogun State.

While presenting the staff of office to the new Obas, the SSG noted that all appointments and promotion followed due process and recommendation from their prescribed authorities.

”Ogun State has witnessed tremendous growth and development in the last 8 years, traditional institutions had played prominent roles in achieving this by ensuring that peace and stability reigns in their domain”

”It is of note that our new kabiyesis are responsible people and to whom much is given much is expected. The responsibilities at hand are enormous so Kabiyesis, you must live up to these expectations”

”Our administration recognises the importance of traditional rulers, as they have contributed immensely to the success of our tenure. No doubt today’s promotion exercise was carried out to compensate our Baales by upgrading ten to Coronet Obas”

”I want to charge the new monarcha not to relent in promoting pewce and harmony in their various domains”

Meanwhile, the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs. Chief jide Ojuko submitted that the State Government was conscious of development at the grass roots.
