Ogun State Governor, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun, has commissioned the newly completed Abeokuta–Obalende–Osinubi New Town Road in Ijebu-Ode, describing the project as a critical link that will significantly improve mobility, economic activity and urban development in the area.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, said the road is one of the most important arterial routes in Ijebu-Ode, serving as a strategic connection to Molipa, Abeokuta Road, the New Market axis and other parts of the town.
According to him, the project has eased transportation challenges and stands as a landmark achievement that will enhance infrastructural development within the community.
Engr. Akinsanya commended Governor Abiodun for his sustained commitment to road development across Ogun State, noting that the administration’s infrastructural drive continues to improve the quality of life of residents and strengthen economic growth.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, highlighted the positive economic impact of the road, stating that improved accessibility along the corridor has led to increased property values, attracted new investments and boosted the economic potential of the area.
He added that the reconstruction of the Abeokuta–Obalende–Osinubi Road created employment opportunities for local labour and stimulated commercial activities along the route.
In his address, Governor Abiodun revealed that his administration plans to commission at least two roads every week across the state, with over 1,600 kilometres of roads either completed or under construction.
He disclosed that no fewer than 21 roads are currently being constructed in Ijebu-Ode alone, describing the feat as unprecedented since the creation of Ogun State.
The governor also responded to criticisms circulating on social media, stating that the tangible performance of his administration, particularly in infrastructure development, would silence critics.
He reaffirmed his government’s resolve to continue delivering people-oriented projects and to serve the people of Ogun State better across all sectors.
