Assembly Asks Ogun Govt To Procure Trackers For Security Agencies

The Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the state government as a matter of urgency to provide every necessary security equipment towards strengthening the security architecture in the state to effectively tackle the rise in incidents of kidnapping, rituals killing, among other crimes. 

Opening debate on the motion leading to the passage of the resolution, a member of the House, Adegoke Adeyanju, explained that there was a need for the government to bring together stakeholders in security management including the Security Trust Fund and the private sector in procuring ‘Autel Drone Robotics Evo Max 4T’ meant for tracking criminals so as to nip the menace in the bud.

Corroborating Adeyanju’s position, two members of the Assembly, Babatunde Tella and Adebisi Oyedele, equally raised the issue of insecurity under matter of urgent public importance during the plenary presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

They explained that the issues of kidnapping and ritual killings needed to be tackled headlong, lamenting the gruesome murder of a UTME candidate, who was the niece of the Speaker. The victim was killed last Sunday in her parents’ house at Olodo in the Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

The lawmakers noted that such cases had become rampant in all parts of the state, hence the need for the government to support the security agencies through the procurement of necessary security gadgets to track criminals.

They added that solar cameras could also be installed in some parts of the state to aid security network.

The debate later led to the motion for the resolution moved by the Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by a member, Lukmon Atobatele, and supported by the whole House through a unanimous voice vote.
