The Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun state, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya, has declared that Governor Dapo Abiodun has effectively silenced his critics through consistent commissioning of impactful projects across the state, describing the governor as a focused and result-oriented leader committed to quality governance.
Speaking while appraising the performance of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration since its inception in 2019, the AMORAN chairman said the volume and spread of infrastructure development, particularly in road construction, have made it impossible for detractors to sustain what he termed “false and misleading narratives” about the government’s performance.
According to him, the Abiodun administration has embarked on extensive road projects cutting across all the senatorial districts and local government areas of Ogun State, thereby improving connectivity, boosting economic activities and enhancing the quality of life of residents
He listed some of the notable roads constructed or rehabilitated by the administration to include the Denro–Ishashi Road in Ifo Local Government Area; Awokoya Road in Ijebu Ode; the Abeokuta–Siun–Interchange Road; and the Ijebu-Ode–Mojoda–Epe Road traversing Ijebu-Ode and Odogbolu Local Government Areas.
Others, he said, are the Arepo–Journalists’ Estate Road in Obafemi Owode Local Government; Oba Erinwole Road in Sagamu Local Government Area; Sagamu–Aiyepe Road; Imasayi–Iboro–Ayetoro Road (Phase 1) in Yewa North Local Government Area; and the Siun–Owode Road in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
The chairman further mentioned the Togborin–Agodo–Lukogbe–Tiagara Road in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area; Ilase–Koko–Alari Road in Ipokia Local Government Area; and the Joju–Iyana Ota Road in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area as part of the numerous road projects executed by the administration.
“These are just a few among many. The truth is that there is no local government area in Ogun State that has not witnessed road construction since Governor Dapo Abiodun assumed office in 2019,” he said.
He stressed that claims by critics seeking to downplay the administration’s achievements are unfounded, noting that the projects are not imaginary or based on propaganda.
“These projects are not hearsays. They are visible, verifiable and being used daily by the people. No amount of false narrative can overshadow the truth on ground,” the chairman added.
Beyond road infrastructure, the AMORAN boss described the delivery of the Gateway International Airport as a monumental achievement of the Abiodun administration, noting that successive past governments only contemplated the project without bringing it to fruition.
According to him, the airport stands as a lasting legacy that will continue to resonate in the hearts of the people of Ogun State for generations to come, given its strategic importance to economic growth, investment attraction and job creation.
He also commended Governor Abiodun for his supportive relationship with transport unions across the state, saying the governor has consistently ensured a smooth, peaceful and inclusive environment for union activities.
“This support has significantly contributed to the relative peace and stability Ogun State has enjoyed under this administration, especially within the transport sector,” he said.
On the governor’s much-talked-about 2027 Senate ambition, Otunba Sokoya described it as “a done deal,” attributing his confidence to the governor’s numerous landmark achievements while in office.
He expressed optimism that Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, will not only clinch the party’s ticket but also record an overwhelming victory at the polls, stressing that his performance as governor will speak louder than campaigns.
“The people can see the work. That is why support is already growing massively. We, including myself, are mobilising strongly because his giant strides have earned him the trust of the people,” he stated.
He concluded by pledging his personal support, as well as that of all members of the union, to Governor Abiodun and his administration, insisting that Ogun State is firmly on the path of progress under his leadership, contrary to the claims of his political adversaries.
