The Odogbolu Community Development Council on Saturday rolled out the drums to celebrate the 49th Odogbolu Heritage Day, alongside the official launch of the ₦250 million Odogbolu Centre for Creative and Vocational Development/Trust Fund—an ambitious project aimed at empowering young people and preserving the town’s cultural identity.
The colourful ceremony, held in Odogbolu town, drew a large audience including traditional rulers (Alaye-in-Council), top government officials, political leaders, age grades, and sons and daughters of the community from near and far.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Dr. Babatunde Diya, expressed profound gratitude to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, for the numerous infrastructural and developmental projects executed in Odogbolu in recent years.
He also appreciated the Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Dapo Okubadejo, for his unwavering support, stressing that the Administration is committed to delivering even more projects that will transform the local government.
“Today’s Odogbolu is not the same as years ago. The governor has changed our story with visible projects. Our people should expect even more development,” Diya assured, while thanking the community for standing firmly with his administration.
Representing Governor Abiodun and serving as Chairman of the Day, Hon. Dapo Okubadejo praised the governor’s performance, describing him as a leader committed to leaving Ogun State far better than he met it.
He highlighted several ongoing and completed projects, including:
Odogbolu–Federal College Road
Epe–Mojoda Road
Commencement of Sabo–Itanrin Road
Statewide security enhancement efforts
Total refurbishment of all technical colleges across Ogun State
Okubadejo said the newly renovated technical colleges—equipped with modern facilities—will empower youths, especially in communities like Odogbolu.
He also referenced landmark projects such as the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, describing it as a signature achievement of the Abiodun administration.
While applauding Hon. Diya for his outstanding leadership and projects at the local level, he congratulated the people of Odogbolu for sustaining a festival that “reflects unity, culture, and development.”
Chief Launcher of the day, Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, represented by Dr. Adejare, commended Governor Abiodun for the “amazing” ongoing projects across Ogun State and praised Hon. Diya for his remarkable developmental strides within Odogbolu.
He congratulated the community on the Heritage Day celebration, noting that festivals like this play a crucial role in preserving cultural identity.
“Odogbolu has shown love for its heritage and tradition. This festival creates a platform where local talent can shine, and it reinforces Ogun State’s commitment to promoting culture,” he said.
The 49th Odogbolu Heritage Day not only showcased rich cultural displays but also marked a significant step toward youth empowerment with the launch of the ₦250 million Creative and Vocational Centre initiative.
The event reaffirmed Odogbolu’s commitment to cultural preservation, community development, and partnership with the Ogun State Government in driving sustainable progress.
