OGUN STRENGTHENS PPP AGENDA, ESTABLISHES BUSINESS ADVISORY COUNCIL
In order to ensure that the Public Private Sector Partnership (PPP) agenda of Ogun State yield the expected results, a Business Advisory Council has been established to strengthen and make it system driven.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun disclosed this at the 59th Independence Anniversary Celebration of the country, held at Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The Governor explained that the Advisory Council would enable the State set a clear standard of engagement applicable to all development partners, adding that a Public-Private Partnership office was created with the aim of ensuring a system driven business environment.
‘’We are sincerely committed to a Public-Private-Sector Partnership approach, we now have a Business Advisory Council that comprises stakeholders and focuses on ensuring that the business environment remains conducive and competitive for investments to grow in Ogun State.
‘’Also, in promoting our PPP agenda, we have created a Public-Private Partnership office to enable us set clear predictable standard of engagement that will be applicable to all our development partners. We believe that in doing this, the business environment and partnership would be system driven”, he said.
Abiodun stated that his administration was committed to attracting and retaining investments and engendering the prosperity of the citizens, adding that his government had signed into law, the Ogun State Investment Promotion Agency Bill (Ogun Invest), with the purpose of boosting the facilitation required to invest in the State.
” The purpose is to boost the facilitation required to invest in our dear State and commence operations, such as; land acquisition and ownership, community relations, statutory documentation, and linkages with the suppliers, especially farmers’’, the Governor noted.
He informed further of government’s determination to boost the Small Medium Enterprise as major producers of raw materials and off-takers of big industries as distributors, saying, the Enterprise Development Agency established by government would assist in the facilitation of all available intervention funds from the Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria and monitor compliance with all requirements in order to achieve its objectives.
Similarly, Governor Abiodun has said that the State was partnering with its Lagos State counterpart to establish the Lagos-Ogun Joint Development Commission to address issues of common interest, particularly, along the border towns.
He said the joint development commission would help the two states find lasting solutions to the issues on security, infrastructure, physical planning, and ease of commuting between them.
