Oja-Odan Comes To Life As Residents Celebrate Maiden Youth Day

The Oja-Odan community in Yewa North local government of Ogun State in their large numbers on Saturday were agog to celebrate its first-ever Youth Day with a theme “Youth for Development.”
Our correspondent reports that the celebration which is a week-long celebration kicked off on April 14th with an interdenominational prayer and youth day rally awareness, environmental sanitation, games, and a football competition.
The grand finale was indeed spectacular, with Alhaji Sefiu Alao, popularly known as Omo Oko, who delivered an excellent performance to the audience and create an unforgettable experience for people in attendance.
In attendance included the lawmaker representing Ketu constituency II, Hon. Wahab Abiodun Egungbohun, traditional rulers which include the host, the Oloja of Oja-Odan HRM Oba (Engr) Oyebanji Adetunji Oladipo “Olowobese Ilagba I, the Olu of Imasayi, HRM Oba Lukman Kuoye, the Aboro of Ibeseland, HRM Oba Oluwarotimi Mulero, the Oniwoye of Iwoye-Yewa, HRM Oba Ololade Buhari Makinde, the Oloola of Ilara Kingdom, Oba Mutiu Adedimeji Oyede-Lawal amongst other traditional rulers in Ketu Constituency.
While speaking at the event, the Oloja of Oja-Odan, HRM Oba (Engr) Oyebanji Adetunji Oladipo Olowobese Ilagba I expressed gratitude to the Almighty for the success of the event and appreciated the traditional rulers who came from far and near for their support and love to grace the event.
Oba Adetunji also thanked the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (CEO IBD Impex) and other government officials for their support and love towards the success of the event.
His words “My appreciation also goes to the Chairman planning committee, Alhaji Sanni Azeez popularly known as Zolakaz for his leadership skills and able to achieve first Oja-Odan Youth Day along other members of the committees.”
“Let me use this opportunity to urge all the sons and daughters of Oja-Odan to see the celebration as way of bringing unity, love and development to the community, I thanked all the performance and participants of this event, I urge you all to fully participate in the coming year.”, the Kabiyesi said.
On his parts, the Chairman planning committee, Alhaji Sanni Azeez (Zolakaz) said the event was able to achieved through the support of well meaning Oja-Odan youths and with the support of Almighty God.
Zolakaz equally urged the youth to see the celebration as a way of promoting unity, love, and development in the community.
He therefore encouraged all sons and daughters of Oja-Odan to participate fully in future events, saying that such celebrations can bring peace, empowerment, and development to the community.
Also speaking, the Secretary to the local government in Yewa South, Alhaji AbdulJabar Ayelaagbe while commending the organizers of the event, charged the youths of Oja Odan to do more in having quality and sound
education and not neglect entrepreneurship.
Alhaji Ayelaagbe said its important to strengthen Oja Odan Youth Forum structure and engage in participation in regional youth bodies.
He said Oja Odan Youth Forum is the central body for all Oja Odan youth home and abroad, therefore there should be sub-unit groups representing different areas and quarters the town is made up of.
He therefore urged the leadership of the youth Forum to prioritize and involve in Mechanized Farming, he said this will help young farmers in the community grow better agricultural produce and have food sufficiency for the town and it would reduce the amount of physical work, and save time.
The event honored outstanding youths who have contributed positively to the development of the community, which included Hon. Wahab Abiodun Egungbohun, the CEO Wallex Estate, CSC. O.O Alase, Olori Odo Ipobe, Koko Ayetoro, Buhari Oloto, Barrister Ola Folalu. Com. Yinka Fagbohun.
Others were, Alhaji Rasheed (Elediye) Alhaji Amusa Mukaila, Sanjay Oloruntoyin, Olufolafemi, Alhaji Haruna (Eleran) Sunday More Blessing, Mr Ojagbesan Jelili, Chief Jelili Jagunmolu (Jay Pawpaw) Chief Olabimtan Dauda, Pastor Elepo, Segun Hogbun amongst others.
Our correspondent also reports that the celebration showcased huge cultural display and entertainment, with various performances by sons and daughters of the community.
