Why I Ordered Arrest of TASCE Staff- Abiodun
Olajide Osoba, Abeokuta
The Ogun State governor, prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed the reason behind the arrest the five members of the staff of Tai Solarin College of Education, TASCE.
The governor claimed that the TASCE staff were arrested because they disrupted the ongoing matriculation ceremony on the campus of the institution.
Abiodun disclosed this during a Praise/ Worship programme organised in Abeokuta, Ogun State to celebrate his victory at the tribunal.
he said ” when I received information that the TASCE staff invaded the institution and caused commotion at the matriculation venue, I promptly ordered their arrest. My government will not tolerate nonsensical act. I didn’t arrest them for no reason”
The governor also maintained that the students had already taken laws in into their own hands by beating the lecturers before the arrival of the security personnel.
The staff under the umbrella of TASCE Staff Association (TSA) had on Monday, September 16 claimed that Dapo Abiodun accused them of stealing and robbery. Where they alleged that the governor trampled on their fundamental rights by subsequently ordering their arrest.
The chairman of TASCE, Dr Daniel Aborisade while speaking to news men on Monday 16th, 2019 at the NUJ center denied the allegation of the abduction of the provost.
They also described the arrest ordered by Dapo Abiodun as an attempt to cow them and make them abandon the agitation for payment of 60 months backlog salaries the state government owed them.
The association also mentioned one of Dapo Abiodun Education Transition Committee, Mr Lamide Lawal where they alleged that he subtly invited their Representative, Aborisade Daniel to Abeokuta, a visit that led to his arrest at the Governor’s office.
The governor therefore noted that his administration will continue to ensure equity, all inclusiveness and not biased
