Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, economic development and infrastructural transformation during a political consultation and stakeholders’ engagement with organised labour and leaders from Ogun Waterside in Ogun East Senatorial District.
The engagement, held at Bishop Awosoga Memorial Hall, Ijebu-Ode, brought together representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), and other stakeholders.
Governor Abiodun appreciated organised labour for its cooperation and support since 2019, noting that the achievements recorded by his administration were made possible through sustained collaboration between the government and workers.
He highlighted major economic initiatives, including the Gateway International Airport, Gateway Deep Sea Port, oil discovery and coastal road development, describing them as strategic investments designed to stimulate economic growth, attract investment, create employment opportunities and improve the living standards of residents.
The governor also addressed concerns raised by labour representatives, particularly the Contributory Pension Scheme and palliative allowances, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to resolving outstanding issues through constructive engagement.
Abiodun, who is the APC senatorial candidate for Ogun East in the 2027 general elections, reiterated his determination to consolidate the achievements of his administration and continue delivering on his promises.
Representatives of organised labour commended the governor for his worker-friendly policies and developmental initiatives, while acknowledging the importance of sustained dialogue between government and labour unions.
