Gov Abiodun Bags New Award On ICT
The drive of the Ogun State Government in the area of Information Technology has once again received national recognition, as the Government received an award of the Best State in ICT Infrastructure Development from the National Council on Communication and Digital Economy.
Presenting the award on behalf of the Council, the Gombe State Commissioner for Information Science and Technology, Dr. Aishatu Usman Maigari said the award was presented to the State in recognition o the smart and incisive attention given to ICT development, noting that Ogun ranked first among the states of the Federation who have placed premium on developing the sector as Information Technology remained the way to go in this 21st century. Dr. Maigari also presented a 2nd runner up award in ICT Human Capital Development to the State.
Receiving the awards on behalf of the State Government, the Director of ICT, Bureau of Information Technology, Mrs Olatundun Adekunte, appreciated the Council for the timely recognition, saying that such awards would surely spur the State to do more in the area of Information Science and Technology.
In her words: “This is not the time to sit down in our comfort zone. Rather, this will encourage us to continue to give our best in making sure that Ogun State citizens and residents become relevant with the usage of Information Technology.”
It would be recalled that Ogun State had earlier in Abuja, won an award on ICT a few weeks ago.
