Ogun 2027: If Yewa Awori Must Succeed, We Must Do Away With The Likes of Engr Lai Taiwo And Co-Travellers

By Hon. Adetunji Ibrahim

Ogun West fifth columnists are at it again trying to work in direct opposite to a normal and peaceful pathway to attain Yewa-Awori long time dream of having one of us elected as the executive governor of our dear Ogun State.

While one of our divisions in the state, (Ijebu/Remo) is currently advocating for having their own state, we in Ogun West are still occupied with infighting of who should or should not be governor from our Senatorial district.

The other day when Rt. Honourable Akinlade Abiodun Isiaq , member representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency and Baba Adinni of Yewaland come out in the public to assure the people of Ogun West that the present political gladiators from the region especially the elective ones are working round the clock to ensure that the leader of the party and everyone consider one of them (without mentioning names) from the region to succeed the incumbent governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON come 2027.

This call received tremendous applause from people of peace and the usual palpable tension amongst politicians and their supporters appeared doused.

This was the situation until recently that one of the perennial self acclaimed afobaje of Awori politics Engr. Lai Taiwo in his usual arije-ni-madaru tendencies called on the people of Ogun West to ignore the call for unity among the stakeholders and just adopt Senator Olamilekan Adeola as the sole candidate from the region.

In his diatribe, Lai Taiwo suggested that he would have chased Hon. Akinlade who is the Baba Adinni of Yewa from the podium because the podium was built by YAYI. He also referred to others exclusive of YAYI as “akosibero”… These and many more are bitter words that came out of a supposed elder and leader. But what are the likes of this Lai Taiwo keeps doing at his over 80 is continuing patronage of politicians they perceived will help foot some of their extravagant lifestyles.

It is clear that Lai Taiwo and his contemporaries are not interested in Yewa-Awori unity come 2027. If not, statements such as this should not be coming out from him not only in the month of Ramadan but at a gathering that people gathered to celebrate the holy month. Lai Taiwo must be shameful of himself.

Lastly, our people are implored to remain steadfast and resolute. We should learn to ignore “adagbaje-raufu” like Lai Taiwo and make sure we work together ahead of 2027.
