Three-Day Grassroots Mobilisation Moves From Iwopin to Ode-Omi
Ogun Waterside witnessed three days of sustained grassroots political engagement as the APC Apex Women of Ogun Waterside embarked on a Five-for-Five Sensitisation Rally across communities in the area.
The three-day programme combined ward-level engagement, community interaction, mobilisation and sensitisation, taking the Five-for-Five message directly to residents, women, party members, supporters and grassroots stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The initiative was built around Engagement, Empowerment, Mobilisation and Delivery, while promoting coordinated support for five APC candidates contesting five key electoral positions.
At the centre of the message were President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Presidency; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) for Governor of Ogun State; Prince Dapo Abiodun (PDA) for the Ogun East Senatorial District; Hon. Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan (JFA) for the House of Representatives, representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency; and Hon. Lawal Samusideen Adekunle (Lawee) for the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ogun Waterside State Constituency.
DAY ONE: IWOPIN TO EFIRE
The first day commenced in Iwopin Ward 1, where the rally train arrived to a gathering of APC women, party members and community supporters.
From Iwopin, the sensitisation train moved through communities including Oni, Ibiade, Lukogbe/Ilushin Ward 4, Abigi and Efire, creating opportunities for interaction between party stakeholders and residents.
The women used the opening day to explain the Five-for-Five concept and encourage coordinated participation around the five electoral positions being highlighted by the programme.
Hon. Lawal Samusideen Adekunle (Lawee), Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ogun Waterside State Constituency, joined the rally, participating in the grassroots engagement as the train moved through the communities.
The rally also received the participation of Hon. Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan (JFA), Member of the House of Representatives for Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency.
At Ibiade, a large gathering of residents, women and party supporters received the sensitisation train, while Lukogbe/Ilushin Ward 4 and Abigi similarly recorded community participation.
The first day’s activities eventually ended in Efire, bringing a full day of movement and engagement across multiple communities to a close.
DAY TWO: RAIN COULD NOT STOP THE MESSAGE
Day Two commenced at Ajebo Market, Makun-Omi, where the Five-for-Five sensitisation train continued its journey across Ogun Waterside.
Despite rainfall, the programme proceeded, with women and supporters remaining engaged in the activities. Music, jubilation and community interaction characterised the Makun-Omi stop as the sensitisation team continued its movement.
The rally subsequently proceeded to Ayila, where supporters remained on ground despite the difficult weather conditions and waited for the arrival of the train.
The reception provided another opportunity for the organisers to engage residents around the Five-for-Five message and the broader objective of strengthening grassroots participation.
The journey eventually continued to Ayede, where Day Two concluded.
From Makun-Omi through Ayila and Ayede, the second day demonstrated the determination of the participants to sustain the grassroots engagement despite rainfall and challenging travel conditions.
DAY THREE: FROM ROAD TO RIVER — ODE-OMI
The final day took a different route as the Five-for-Five train embarked on a journey by water towards Ode-Omi Ward 10 for the grand finale.
The movement from road to water marked a distinctive final chapter of the three-day programme as the team travelled towards the coastal community.
Upon arrival, Ode-Omi welcomed the sensitisation train, bringing together women, party members, community stakeholders and supporters for the concluding engagement.
The final day’s programme also included a visit to the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project in the area, where participants witnessed ongoing infrastructure development around the community.
For the organisers, bringing the three-day sensitisation exercise to Ode-Omi represented the completion of a journey that had taken the Five-for-Five message through several communities across Ogun Waterside.
THE FIVE-FOR-FIVE MESSAGE
Throughout the three days, the programme consistently highlighted five electoral positions and the APC candidates associated with them.
At the presidential level, the campaign message centred on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
For the Ogun State governorship, the women promoted Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI).
For the Ogun East Senatorial District, the programme highlighted Prince Dapo Abiodun (PDA).
At the federal constituency level, the message featured Hon. Joseph Folorunsho Adegbesan (JFA) for Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency.
The fifth position was the Ogun State House of Assembly seat for Ogun Waterside State Constituency, represented in the Five-for-Five campaign message by Hon. Lawal Samusideen Adekunle (Lawee).
Together, the five positions formed the core of the sensitisation campaign’s Five-for-Five message — five electoral contests presented as one coordinated campaign agenda.
THREE DAYS, MULTIPLE COMMUNITIES
From Iwopin, Oni, Ibiade, Lukogbe/Ilushin, Abigi and Efire on Day One, through Makun-Omi, Ayila and Ayede on Day Two, and finally Ode-Omi on Day Three, the rally covered a wide stretch of communities in Ogun Waterside.
The programme provided a platform for women and other grassroots stakeholders to interact, mobilise and discuss participation in the forthcoming electoral process.
The organisers expressed appreciation to the APC women, party leaders, candidates, supporters, community stakeholders and residents who participated in the three-day exercise.
The Five-for-Five Sensitisation Rally has now concluded its three-day tour of Ogun Waterside, with the organisers describing the programme as an important grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
