The Ogun Waterside community has recorded another remarkable feat in education as *Wisdom College of Excellence (WICE), Iwopin*, and *Mr. Ajose Musiliu*, a Physics teacher at *Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Oni*, received recognition at the *2026 Ogun State Teachers’ Day celebration*.
The celebration, held at the *June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta*, brought together teachers, school administrators, education stakeholders, government representatives and other dignitaries to celebrate excellence and recognise outstanding contributions to education across the state.
The highlight of the event for Ogun Waterside was the emergence of *Wisdom College of Excellence (WICE), Iwopin, as the Best Private Senior Secondary School in Ogun State*.
The award places WICE among the leading private secondary schools recognised for excellence in the state and represents a significant milestone for the school, its management, teachers, students, parents and the wider Iwopin community.
WICE has continued to focus on quality education, academic development, discipline, innovation and the use of modern approaches to improve teaching and learning. The recognition is therefore a testament to the collective efforts of the school community in pursuing excellence and providing students with opportunities to thrive.
Adding another layer of pride to the Waterside community was *Mr. Ajose Musiliu*, a Physics teacher at *Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Oni*, who emerged as the *2nd Runner-Up in the Best Teacher Award, Public Senior Secondary School Category*.
Mr. Musiliu’s recognition highlights the dedication and commitment of teachers working in public schools within the Ogun Waterside axis. As a Physics teacher, his recognition also underscores the importance of passionate educators in making science and technical subjects more engaging and meaningful to students.
The two recognitions created a remarkable moment for Ogun Waterside, with a school and an individual teacher from the area receiving honours at the state-level celebration.
The achievements are particularly significant as they demonstrate that excellence in education is not limited to schools in major urban centres. Institutions and educators in communities such as Iwopin and Oni are also making meaningful contributions to the development of education in Ogun State.
The awards are expected to serve as motivation for other schools, teachers and education stakeholders across the Waterside axis to continue investing in quality teaching, innovation, professionalism and student development.
For WICE, the recognition as *Best Private Senior Secondary School in Ogun State* is a major achievement that further strengthens its position as an institution committed to educational excellence.
For Mr. Ajose Musiliu, finishing as *2nd Runner-Up among teachers in the Public Senior Secondary School Category* is a recognition of his dedication to the teaching profession and his contribution to the academic development of students.
As Ogun State continues to celebrate teachers for their sacrifices and contributions to society, the achievements of WICE and Mr. Musiliu have given the Ogun Waterside community another reason to celebrate.
